Flexible design & facilitation of team alignment workshop following restructure
Following a recent restructure to bring two previously separate teams into a single group, Bright People were engaged to design and facilitate a workshop with the objectives of aligning the team to a single purpose and reviewing the collective work requirements to identify a proposed set of critical priorities and actions in an operational plan.
Bright People were engaged to design and facilitate a workshop with the objectives of aligning the team to a single purpose and reviewing the collective work requirements to identify a proposed set of critical priorities and actions in an operational plan. Early in the session, it was discovered that many of the group had lost their sense of connection to a ‘why’ of their department’s work, and its contribution to community or environment outcomes. This emerging frustration was seen as a potential blocker to open engagement in the remainder of the session.
Rather than force the remaining agenda, in consultation with the attending leaders, the facilitator responded to this difficulty through deeper exploration of the internal and external environment, the work they do and the meaning that could be drawn from it. Further, practical opportunities to proactively influence over outcomes and decisions in areas of frustration was explored.
- A flexible approach to facilitation, responding to what was observed in the room, to ensure the best possible outcome for our Customer
- A statement of purpose embraced by team, strengthening their connection to the value and contribution of the department’s work to the community and environment
- Actionable steps to proactively engage and influence key stakeholders for efficiency outcomes
- A single set of department work priority areas for later development.
